Do You Make Link Building Mistakes?

As a blogger and website owner you want to attract links to your website, but the key is not just to attract links… we need to attract good links. The best links are that come from related websites which are similar and related content provider but not the same type of material or service. A rough example: A link for “clothes designing” would benefit from a link that discusses “accessories designing”.
Here I want to supply content to my social marketing guide, which I’ve purposely kept short and to the point with special accent to the updating services. We have many tools to make link building easier and effective, but I want to emphasize that word-of-mouth referrals are driven by satisfied customers, not marketers. Yes link building is important and the tools can boost it a little, but if it comes naturally from satisfied visitors it’s a bullseye! If purpose of social networking is to make connections guided by good networking behavior, then we are in the right route and that, my friend, only can be done if you’re regarded member of social community and when people respect links you submit.
Back to effective linking services, where I’ve reviewed ping.fm and you can additionally read Jack Humphrey’s post „Which is better – Ping.FM or HelloTXT?“, where he emphasizes that it’s not the most important which tool you’re using to update your microblogging accounts, while you haven’t abused and overused it. As Jack says „People follow those they respect and identify with“, and not spammers.
I would just add one note which at the moment is giving advantage to ping.fm in front of other status updating services like updating.me, hellotext. First, Ping.fm allow you to group your services and apart them. That way you can update separately micro-blogging, blogging or social networks. This is certainly more effective, read my status updating for further explanation. Second, from recently ping.fm has a one more great feature: speak to your social networks – voice status updating. Unfortunately the service is available only for USA and Canada, so we from other parts of the World cannot use it.
I assume these services will continue to compete and probably we can expect these features from others as well.
At the end I will underline importance of quality content. In this entire link building thing, it is crucial to don’t forget website content. If quality content misses nobody will link to your site except you, and that certainly is not enough.
